1901 marks the year in which the East Asia Association was founded. The original goal was to create a meeting place for merchants and captains who lived and worked in Asia for extended periods of time for professional reasons. Returning to their hometown of Bremen, the returnees felt the need to reminisce about their stay in the Far East, meet like-minded people, and exchange experiences.
Since then, we have seen ourselves as a meeting place for people committed to building, maintaining, and improving cultural and economic relations between Asia and Bremen. Our current 500 members are united not only by their love for the Asian continent, but also by the common goal of doing good, informing and educating, and maintaining and strengthening existing and future connections with people in business, politics, and culture.
With the help of OAV Bremen, the farm project in Bugko was launched in early 2024. The goal of the “BREMEN TOWN MUSICIAN FARM” project is to cultivate and manage approximately 10,000 square meters of grassland that can be harvested year-round. It will help feed the clinic staff and the children in the nutrition program. Milestones in this process included the construction of two greenhouses with hydroponic systems for growing lettuce and peppers, as well as the construction of a water pump with an irrigation system. Furthermore, the completion of a garden shed for storing gardening tools and fertilizers. Regular training sessions are also held for the workers to ensure the success of the project. The cultivation of bitter gourds, water cucumbers, beans, chard, okra, corn, pumpkin, dragon fruit, chili, lettuce, and watermelons are the result of this hard work. The project leaders hope to further expand the farm project and increase production
